St. Ignatius Labs

The original St. Ignatius College Prep building was constructed in 1866 and was named a Chicago Landmark in 1986. The school was awarded the National Trust for Historic Preservation Honor Award in 1988. SCB has been involved in all aspects of St. Ignatius’ renovation and construction program as they continually pursue additional program space for their students. After completing a campus master plan, SCB provided design services for the renovation of the original school, including the conversion of the old practice gymnasium to a new main library. The Richard H. Driehaus Building, originally constructed in 1895, was also renovated and includes classrooms, labs, lounges, an audiovisual room and offices. The new McLaughlin Center for the Performing Arts, an addition to the 1895 building, includes a 350-seat theater, classrooms, science labs and an art studio. The Chicago Center, a new three story building contains a practice gymnasium, locker rooms, wrestling gym, weight room and a 720-seat dining room.
