The Mather Continuing Care Retirement Community in Evanston, Illinois, is the Masonry Construction Magazine Project of the Year.
Designed by SCB Principal Jim Curtin, the 317,683 sf building provides 141 homes within 34 different floor plans, and features a continuum of living options, including assisted living, memory support suites and skilled nursing suites.
Located in an historic residential district just two blocks from Lake Michigan and Northwestern University, the building's sensitive placement and articulated design details fit seamlessly within the context of masonry buildings from the early 1900s. The first phase of the building opened in September this year.
