SCB at Greenbuild 2010

Chicago, Illinois
7/7/2010

SCB Principal Devon Patterson will contribute to two events planned for Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in Chicago this November.

Greenbuild is the world's largest event dedicated to greenbuilding.  On November 17th, Patterson will be a panelist at an offsite educational session examining the efforts of a local community to become Chicago’s greenest neighborhood. Led by J. Marshall Eames, Director of Environmental Sustainability at Loyola University Chicago (LUC), the workshop will describe the evolution of the Edgewater Environmental Sustainability Project, a grassroots effort to develop a master plan for greening a densely populated and established urban area.

Panelists include Carmen Vidal-Hallett, an architect specializing in international environmental sustainability projects, and Barbara Willard, an active member of the Edgewater Community Council. LUC is the largest employer and landowner in Edgewater. Patterson is helping to design the next generation of high performance buildings at LUC.

As part of the Greenbuild 2010 tours highlighting Chicago's key green attributes, Patterson will lead attendees through the Richard J. Klarchek Information Commons at LUC.  The  Green Universities/ Sustainable Higher Education half-day tour on November 20th is designed to showcase divergent approaches to sustainability at Chicago-based universities. The cultural and educational impact of the new LEED Silver digital library will be compared to the effects of a major renovation of an academic building at another Chicago campus.
