Loyola University Chicago

Master Plan | Chicago, Illinois

Loyola University is an established institution with a rich architectural history.  The intricate details of the existing buildings were a template of inspiration for SCB’s master plan of the Lake Shore Campus.  As part of the master plan, SCB provided a thorough academic and student life needs analysis, conducted staff and student interviews, developed architectural guidelines, identified sustainability goals for future projects, and developed open space and phasing strategies for future buildings and infrastructure.  The partnership between Solomon Cordwell Buenz and Loyola University Chicago, spanning 25 years, has resulted in an incremental evolution of the campus, enhancing its sense of place and overall campus culture.

SCB’s future partnership with Loyola University Chicago includes developing a Sustainable Master Plan.  It is comprised of their first net zero non-renewable energy classroom building and a new 10-story urban Business School with 60-70% energy reduction.
