An Associate Principal and Project Manager at SCB, Steven Olson organizes project teams and coordinates project efforts from inception through completion, including overseeing approvals, design, documentation, and construction processes. Steve’s extensive experience encompasses a diverse range of projects, including large-scale new commercial office space, commercial building upgrades, senior housing, GSA work, hospitality, aviation projects including the new FedEx Cargo Facility at O’Hare, and college and university projects including campus master planning. He believes all projects, regardless of type or budget, benefit from a direct, hands-on approach.
A number of projects Steve has worked on have been published and recognized with awards, including the IBEW Headquarters, which won an AIA chapter award; the Mather Evanston, which was featured in a number of publications and was honored with several industry awards; 625 North Michigan Avenue, which won an AIA chapter award; and the FBI headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland, which won an AIA award from the association’s Maryland chapter. Many of Steve’s projects incorporate sustainability features, a testament to Steve’s dedication to green building practices. He spearheaded the early LEED movement at SCB, developing company resources and training staff to tackle the sustainability revolution. Steve has worked on numerous LEED projects at varying levels of certification.
A member of the AIA, Steve has been a member of the US Green Building Council since 2001 and maintains the Building Design & Construction accreditation. He earned his degree in Architecture from Pratt Institute in New York City, graduating with Highest Honors and recognition for design leadership.
