New Work in LA!

Date Published

Solomon Cordwell Buenz (SCB) continues to expand its West Coast portfolio with several new office, mixed-use, and residential projects in Los Angeles.

Wilshire Courtyard

The redevelopment of Wilshire Courtyard transforms a dated office complex and underutilized site into a new, two-tower, mixed-use destination on Los Angeles’ highly desirable Miracle Mile. The project proposes the addition of 1.3M square feet to the site, including flexible office space, street level retail, and parking. Two, subtly-sculpted towers with chamfered edges create a bold new composition and identity for this highly visible site, each shaped and positioned to create a different and dynamic visual expression from various perspectives within the surrounding neighborhood. A series of bridges link the two towers at several locations, allowing for larger floorplates and private outdoor terraces.

Hollywood + Cahuenga

1708-1732 North Cahuenga Boulevard is a new 14-story creative office building in the Hollywood Boulevard Commercial and Entertainment District. The building bridges the scale between the larger commercial structures a block to the east and the neighboring terra cotta clad Security Trust & Savings building (1920). The bold geometry of the new building takes massing cues from the finely detailed structure; while a large tenant terrace on the 7th floor continues and enhances the cornice line. An open panel roof sign evokes the glamor and drama of the surrounding district and embeds the new building within its context.

520 Mateo

As the first high-rise in the city’s historic Arts District, 520 Mateo is a contemporary interpretation of the surrounding urban fabric. Currently under construction, the mixed-use development includes a 35-story residential tower; a 105,000-square-foot creative office building; and a 55,000-square-foot urban paseo that features active retail, outdoor seating, and public art.

222 West 2nd Street

Recently approved by the Los Angeles City Planning Commission, the design for 222 West 2nd Street demonstrates a thoughtful approach to street presence and the pedestrian experience. Located in the city’s Theater District, the full block project integrates 700 residential units with retail and a new Metro Station.

ARQ at Cumulus

ARQ at Cumulus is a 30-story luxury apartment tower in Culver City. Nearing completion, the 300-unit tower is part of a larger transit-oriented development located at the Expo Line Jefferson/La Cienega station. ARQ is the first high-rise, high-density urban residential experience in the area, offering residents sweeping views of the Hollywood Hills, downtown Los Angeles, and the Pacific Ocean.
