SCB’s Adaptive Re-use of 100 Van Ness Highlights How Vacant Office Space Can Become Housing

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — “Why not turn empty office spaces into housing?” The San Francisco Chronicle asks the question on the minds of several cities that are experiencing an increase in office vacancy rates and continued demand for housing. The SCB-designed 100 Van Ness represents the largest office to residential conversion in the city, transforming the 29-story former California Automobile Association office building into 418 apartment units.
