Academic and Residential Complex wins Design Excellence Award from AIA Chicago
CHICAGO, IL — Solomon Cordwell Buenz (SCB) celebrates a citation of merit in the Distinguished Building category of AIA Chicago’s 2021 Design Excellence Awards program for the Academic and Residential Complex (ARC) at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
The ARC exemplifies how the spirit of convergence and collaboration can create innovative campus design. A diverse group of University stakeholders and a private developer partner came together in an interactive programming effort to reimagine the campus living and learning experience. The result is a LEED Gold, integrated living/learning community composed of a 10-story undergraduate residence hall and 52,000-square-foot, two-story academic classroom building.
