SCB Wins Two Student Housing Business Innovator Awards

Date Published

SCB is a proud recipient of two Student Housing Business Innovator Awards for the firm’s latest projects with long-time client and partner American Campus Communities.

Dundee Residence Hall at the University of California Riverside received the award for Best On-Campus Design/Architecture. Dundee Residence Hall is the first of several large-scale projects designed by SCB that are adding residential capacity and transforming the campus experience at UC Riverside. The LEED Gold, 820-bed residence hall is composed of two seven-story buildings sited to form a shared outdoor courtyard, which serves as the “living room” of the community.

Bentley Hall and the Penonni Honors College at Drexel University won the award for Best On-Campus Renovation of Existing Housing. Originally constructed in 1969, Bentley Hall typified a common challenge faced by many universities: a large, in this case 406-bed, residence hall that was outdated and no longer serving the needs of students. SCB is the architect and interior designer for the full renovation as well as an 11,000-square-foot academic addition that serves as the new home for the Pennoni Honors College.
