SCB Raises Over $20,000 for Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build

Date Published

SCB congratulates our two Women Build teams for raising over $20,000 for Habitat for Humanity Chicago. Each year, women-powered teams from the architecture, engineering, and construction industries work throughout the month of October to raise funds and build homes for women on Chicago’s south and west sides. This year, the SCB teams spent their Build Day in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood working to assemble and erect the walls of the first floor of a new home. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the SCB teams!

“As a woman working in the design industry, I was very excited to be part of the process of actually building a home for someone. Through Women Build I can make a direct impact in supporting women and their families.”

“As an architect, I’m usually working within a design file on the computer. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of satisfaction seeing something I just hammered or framed becoming part of a real structure that will become a home for a family to live in.”

Qin Lu

“It was really rewarding to see so many women working together to help other women achieve housing stability. I’m glad I volunteered and I hope that our efforts give these families many fun experiences in their brand new houses!”

“This was my first year participating in WomenBuild – I feel passionate about the program and its cause. It gave us a platform to look out for other women in Chicago by guiding us on how to help fund and build their homes.”

“As a mother of two girls, I’m proud to support Habitat for Humanity in helping mothers achieve their dreams for a stable and loving home for their family.”
