SCB is proud to have received four awards at this year’s PCBC Gold Nugget Awards held in San Francisco. Now in its 60th year, the annual awards program is the oldest in the nation, recognizing top innovators in design, planning and development. The 2023 panel of industry experts judged over 650 entries to select the best projects of the year.
Hayes Point was the recipient of a Merit Award for Best On-the-Boards Mixed-Use Project. Hayes Point is an 824,000-square-foot, 47-story residential and office building located in the new “Hub” of San Francisco, an area created by the confluence of commercial, civic, and cultural uses at the corner of Market and Van Ness. The project will be all-electric and is targeting LEED Platinum, as well as WELL Silver and WiredScore Gold certifications for the office component.
Lilia Waikiki received a Merit Award for Best Multi-Family Housing Community – 100 du/acre or more. Lilia is a 615,000-square-foot, 28-story residential tower located in the heart of Waikiki. Developed in conjunction with the Queen Emma Land Trust, the project offers 402 apartments, 20 percent of which are affordable units, ranging from studios to three bedrooms. SCB sought to infuse the project with the spirit of the island’s beloved Queen Emma and her passion for the environment, wellness, and the preservation of culture.
The Historic LA Times District Community, made up of 222 W 22nd Street and Times Mirror Square, received a Merit Award for Best On-the-Boards Multi-Family Community. Spanning an entire city block and encompassing a new Metro Station, 222 West 2nd Street, is a 700,000-square-foot, 700-unit, transit-oriented development in the heart of Los Angeles’ historic theater district. Times Mirror Square is a two tower, 1,127-unit residential development in downtown Los Angeles. Sharing the same city block as the historic Kaufman Building, the former headquarters of the LA Times, the development looks to its neighbor as inspiration for its distinctive architectural character.
The Mather Tysons was the recipient of a Merit Award for Best 55+ Housing Community on the Boards. The phased project is targeting LEED Gold and will result in a new 748,000 square-foot, two-tower senior living community located in Tysons Corner, Virginia. Phase One consists of a 186-independent living unit residential tower, with Phase Two closely following with an additional 114 independent living units.
