How did you end up at SCB?
I was born and raised in a small town in Denmark but decided pretty early on that I should go explore a bit beyond the fjords. When spending a couple of years in grad school at ASU, I met my now wife who is from Chicago, so after I achieved my Master’s degree in architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, we decided to move here. I have been fortunate enough to work for a variety of firms before joining SCB, giving me a good diversity of experience. When the time came to find that next adventure, SCB provided the perfect opportunity!
How long have you been at SCB?
Almost eight years now.
What projects are you currently working on?
Right now, I am working on several really exciting but very different projects. One is the Four Seasons Hotel and Residences overlooking the Cumberland River in the heart of the bustling music city of Nashville. The other is a residential high-rise building in Midtown Atlanta, offering co-living apartments catered towards students at nearby Georgia Tech and young tech professionals working in the burgeoning Tech Square district.
What is the best thing about working at SCB?
Working with people. Teamwork. Collaboration. The talented people here at SCB are a great resource and I really enjoy the personal interaction and cultivating a sense of “team spirit.”
What advice can you give to young or future designers and planners?
Have fun. Be positive. You do better work when you are enjoying yourself. Your positive attitude will inevitably rub off on people around you, and they will have fun and do better work too!
