As a Studio Leader and Technical Director, Fernando Araujo provides leadership during the design and execution of projects, and oversees quality control procedures. With over 27 years of experience focused on design, documentation, and implementation of high-performance building enclosures, Fernando leads SCB’s Building Envelope Working Group, studying market trends and monitoring solutions to common enclosure challenges. His expertise includes design of large-scale multi-family residential, mixed-use, hospitality, aviation, office, and higher education projects.
Fernando serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Building Enclosure Council of Chicago. He has also acted as Chair and served on the Board of Directors of Programs for the Chicago chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) since 2011. He is certified with the National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB), is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and is a registered City of Chicago Energy Professional. He has presented on integrated design and high-performance enclosures at AIA and CSI professional development seminars and conferences. Fernando earned his Bachelor of Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
