John Lahey is the Chairman Emeritus of SCB. John joined the firm in 1982 and under his leadership, the firm entered new markets, expanded its portfolio, and become a nationally ranked leader in sustainability and design excellence.
As an award-winning design expert in high-rise, mixed-use and residential buildings, John has developed a national portfolio of more than 50 residential towers. His recent projects include the conversion of Chicago’s historic and iconic Tribune Tower into 162 luxury condominiums; Anaha, a residential tower in Honolulu recognized for design excellence by the AIA; The Bristol, a luxury 30-story condominium in West Palm Beach; and the 52-story Loews Chicago Hotel and Residences. John has also led the design of several of the firm’s most notable projects including the twin tower, 56- and 45-story One Rincon Hill in San Francisco and the 72-story Legacy at Millennium Park in Chicago.
A graduate of Cornell University, John is a Life Trustee and former Board Chair at St. Ignatius College Prep. He previously served on the Council of Regents at Loyola University Chicago, the Board of Directors at Loyola University Hospital, the board of the Chicago Jesuit Academy, the Design Review Board for the University of Illinois at Chicago, and the Regional Advisory Board for The American Ireland Fund. He is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, the Urban Land Institute, the Arts Club of Chicago, and the AIA.
