Matt Pietras is an Associate Principal in the SCB San Francisco Campus Environments studio. A proponent of data and analytics to uncover extraordinary insight during project development, Matt’s strategic thinking connects deeply to institutional client values, elevating their people, and advancing their missions. As a Project Architect, Matt blends a strong sense of design with technical solutions that facilitate complex, interdisciplinary projects. Matt’s project management experience helps him navigate design and consultant teams through challenging permit and entitlement processes, within tight timelines and budgets.
With over 20 years of experience, he has led the successful delivery of over 1.5 million square feet for numerous corporate and institutional clients including Stanford University, University of California Hastings, WeWork, Dow, and Mozilla. Currently, Matt is the Project Manager and Project Architect for the largest P3 student residential project in the country at the University of California, Riverside.
Matt has presented and served on design juries at University of California, Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design and Academy of Art University, and he is a member of the AIA San Francisco Committee on Architecture for Education. He received his Master of Architecture from Columbia University and his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from The Catholic University of America.
