Vern Lohman brings nearly 30 years of professional experience to his role as Associate Principal at SCB. He is an accomplished architect and planner with a passion for creating extraordinary places and spaces. In leading project teams, Vern has developed an outlook on design that merges long-range vision with attention to detail, and he is dedicated to helping clients achieve the functional, financial, and aesthetic goals for their ventures. Vern believes that optimal design solutions can be found through a collaborative design process that explores the opportunities and constraints inherent in any project.
Vern’s architectural experience includes large-scale mixed-used developments, high-density residential, senior residential, commercial office, corporate headquarters, retail, and hotels, as well as work for universities and institutions. In planning and urban design his expertise encompasses neighborhood and city master plans, transit-oriented design, and developing urban design guidelines.
Vern is a LEED Accredited Professional and his commitment to sustainability brings enriched value to projects under his direction. He is an active member of the firm’s Residential Research & Development Committee and enjoys mentoring the younger staff on the technical and visual facets of successful design. He holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Michigan and is a member of the AIA.
