The new field house is home to Roosevelt University’s 16 athletics programs and offers competition space for Lakers men’s and women’s basketball and women’s volleyball. It also houses athletic training and student recreation spaces. The Goodman Center reinforces the architectural identity of Roosevelt’s downtown Chicago campus by establishing a modern dialogue with existing campus buildings. The building’s ground level glass enclosure provides a highly visible ground floor activated by the lobby, academic lounge, training, rehab and administration spaces, while the two-story metal enclosure above features a double height competition basketball/volleyball court with retractable bleacher seating for 500 spectators. The design encloses the main competition courts with carefully composed windows to provide visibility into the building from the adjacent elevated train and campus, further reinforcing the connection to the urban environment.
