The Legacy at Millennium Park
The Legacy at Millennium Park is a 73-story residential tower rising from the heart of Chicago’s Loop. At nearly 820 feet, it has become a modern and dynamic addition to the city’s evolving skyline, while seamlessly interacting at street level with the fabric of the landmark neighborhood.
The 1,073,000-square-foot building maximizes its urban site, incorporating 357 residences and associated amenities with academic space for the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), expanded athletic facilities for the century-old University Club, retail, and residential parking. The building site is within the Jeweler’s Row Historic District, surrounded by landmark buildings (Adler and Sullivan’s oldest surviving design and several by Holabird & Root). The project team worked with city planners and the Landmarks Division to restore the façades of three vacant six-story buildings on the site, and incorporate them into the base of the tower. The ground level façades of the historic SAIC building immediately south of the site were also restored. The Legacy lobby is within the SAIC building. The lobby design offers a warm and inviting atmosphere with its deep, rich colors and seating area surrounding a fireplace. SCB’s design provides sense of classic elegance for the building’s residents and visitors.
