UCSC West Campus Planning Study
SCB is currently working with the University of California, Santa Cruz on a housing planning study for the West Campus. UC Santa Cruz is a non-traditional campus comprised of ten tight-knit colleges that blend the living and learning experience.
Within the University of California system, Santa Cruz houses the highest percentage of the enrolled student population—and in accordance with its most recent Long Range Development Plan (LRDP), the University is committed to increasing its on-campus housing options.
SCB is conducting feasibility studies around several sites on the West Campus to identify areas for future development that will accommodate an additional 2,275 beds to serve undergraduate, graduate, and family student communities, with accompanying amenity and support spaces. The studies take into account predicted enrollment growth, current campus assets and infrastructure, and complex phasing and constructability recommendations due to site characteristics like geological hazards, protected land, topography, and views.
